Think:
We’ve finished the High Holidays - from the dive we took inside on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur to find our existential oneness, to unity and rejoicing we felt on Sukkot and Simchat Torah - it’s been a very full month.
In Chasidic tradition the month of Tishrei, the month of the High Holidays, is compared to a bazaar. It’s a time we can walk around the market, sample the wares - a little inspiration, awe, joy and unity - and ‘purchase’ what we need to grow as Jews for the rest of the year.
This Shabbat then, is when we return to the mundane. We’ve declared ‘hit the road Jack’ to the High Holidays and now begin unpacking the bags we filled the previous month - so we can begin our mission in earnest.
