Korohod: The ecstatic jig thawing the frigid coarseness of the mundane world
Tech Tribe Dispatch #78

💡 Think:
Sukkot arrives this evening, and despite the slow lurch towards a relative return to normalcy in New York, for many the realities of social distancing mean the celebration of the holiday will not be the same. Some may even be alone.
But especially during Sukkot, we are never alone. The mystics explain that the Ushpizin, spiritual guests, join us in the sukkah each night. What’s more, the founders of the chasidic movement - the Baal Shem Tov; the Alter Rebbe, the founder of Chabad, and others are said to visit as well.
In a letter penned by the previous Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn, he describes the lone Jew experiencing this encounter:
The chasidic masters draw the lone chasid sitting in sukkah found in the farthest corners of the world, into an ecstatic jig that washes away the darkest stains of exile. Perhaps with physical eyes we only see the frigid coarseness of the mundane world, but the soul experiences this supernal revelation
