The Torah begins its recount of Abraham's life in detail at the age seventy, when G-d asks Abraham to leave his home and travel forth. The Hebrew words Lecha Lecha can mean "You shall go," but they can read "And you shall go from yourself."
The lesson of the first Jew is one that speaks to us today: You must leave yourself, your habits, your negative tendencies, your ego, and travel beyond.
