Tech Tribe Dispatch #6: GROUND CONTROL TO AMAZON

News last week of Amazon's plan to open their HQ2 in Long Island City has been met with a firestorm of controversy. Between $1.5 Billion in tax cuts, helipads and the new headquarters proximity to the Western Hemisphere's largest housing project, questions about New York's attempted ascendancy as the next great tech hub have led some to wonder if this bargain was less than beneficial.
But there is a lesson Amazon can learn from the very neighborhood they're looking to open their HQ 2 in:
25 years ago, before Amazon, Google, Ebay and the New York Time's site even existed, Chabad.org was born in Long Island City. In fact, Chabad.org is one of the first 500 websites to ever be made. Read my story about it all here.
