💡 Think:
“Time is a construct.“
— Rabbi Dovber of Mezritch
Time is a construct, the endless spiral forward in which we find ourselves is part of the constructs of heaven and earth, up and down, that we exist in.
The Chasidic masters explain that time itself emerges from the divine pulse of Creation. The sense of closeness and distance felt by the revelation and concealment of the Divine as it constantly wills reality into existence. The act of creating a world, one constantly recreated, inextricably bound , yet convinced of its own separation from, its Creaton.
But there is a bridge above the pulse of Creation and time… Mitzvot.
When we do a mitzvah, we connect to a deeper, more profound, expression of the Divine… one which emanates from beyond the Time-Space continuum, and elevates the dross physicality of the world to a status beyond time.
This is why every mitzvah is precious. It’s timeless. What I did yesterday. What I’ll do tomorrow… the infinite bond with the Creator from the mitzvah I do right now will last forever.1

🕯️Remember:
This week marks five years since the passing of Michael H.K. Cohen. In Venice, Italy in 2004, Michael and I had the opportunity to celebrate an impromptu bar mitzvah with his mother Carol. We exchanged emails and corresponded over the years.
May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him and the good deeds he continues to inspire a comfort to his whole family: his parents Stephen and Carol Fishman Cohen, and siblings Andrew, Sarah and David.
